Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” LINE) has joined the pioneering e-NG Coalition to drive the global expansion of e-methane.
October 20, 2024, marked the formation of the Electric Natural Gas (e-NG) Coalition, the world’s first international alliance with a mission to expand e-methane globally. As one of the founding members, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” LINE) is committed to propelling the energy transition towards a carbon-neutral future.
The e-NG Coalition aims to promote e-methane, create a global market with standardized emissions accounting and certification, and enhance cooperation among stakeholders in the e-methane value chain.
The coalition will be a critical player in the energy transition, aligning industry innovation with ambitious climate policies. Currently, the coalition boasts 17 member companies, including nine new joiners.
As the representative international shipping company within the e-NG Coalition, “K” LINE is poised to significantly contribute to the global expansion of e-methane and the development of a robust global supply chain.
e-Methane, a carbon-neutral fuel, is produced through the methanation of green hydrogen and carbon dioxide. With similar properties to liquefied natural gas, e-methane is also expected to serve as a marine fuel.
The “K” LINE Group is actively pursuing various initiatives to support both its own and societal low-carbon and carbon-free endeavors, in alignment with its long-term environmental policy, Environmental Vision 2050.
