Chambers of Commerce ink trade cooperation

The Philippine Embassy in Lisbon hosted recently the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) between the Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands (CCPI) and the Câmara de Comércio e Indústria Portugal-Filipinas (CCIPF), also known as the Philippines-Portugal Chamber of Commerce, at the Philippine Chancery.

The MOC was signed by Mr. Jose Luis U. Yulo, Jr. of CCPI, and Mr. David Farca Cruz along with Mr. Orlando Godoy Sia of CCIPF. This agreement formalizes both chambers’ commitment to staying attuned to the ever-evolving global economy and trade environment while working together to support each other’s initiatives and foster mutual growth.

Philippine Ambassador to Portugal, Paul Raymund P. Cortes, expressed his optimism that the MOC would serve as a strong foundation for deepening and enhancing trade relations between the Philippines and Portugal. He highlighted the potential for both chambers to benefit from engaging in a fruitful exchange of ideas, perspectives, and experiences, despite their differences.

In his remarks, Mr. Yulo, who is also the president of CCPI, proudly noted that the CCPI is the oldest business organization in the Philippines. He emphasized the chamber’s commitment to “charting an economic compass for the future,” with a particular focus on rebuilding the country’s economy. Mr. Yulo further pointed out that the MOC marks CCPI’s first formal connection with Portugal, and expressed enthusiasm for exploring new opportunities for manufacturing and investment.

The signing of this Memorandum of Cooperation represents a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral trade relations between the Philippines and Portugal. It lays the groundwork for greater economic collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the opening of new business opportunities for both nations in the years to come.
