France’s shipbuilding firm OCEA will supply 40 units of 35-meter patrol boats to the Philippine Coastguard (PCG).
French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and French Nationals Abroad Laurent Saint-Martin cited the Notice of Award granted to OCEA to sell 40 units of 35-meter patrol boats to the PCG as a “new milestone” in the Franco-Filipino relationship during his visit here on April 11, 2025.
During the meeting, the French delegation expressed eagerness to keep working on new projects stating they are at the Philippine disposal to finance the modernization of the Coastguard’s naval and air fleet.
Already, discussions are underway for three new sister ships to the Gabriela Silang as well as helicopters. Airbus is willing to help strengthen the Philippines’ helicopter fleet and the maintenance of the the existing units.
France will also try to craft a maintenance offer for the existing H145 or H160, to reduce maintenance cost of the PCG while benefitting from a highly efficient platform, the minister said during his meeting with government officials, including Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon.
