President Marcos and Japan Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru have agreed to promote and advance collaboration for the expansion of LNG facilities, nickel, and agricultural products in the Philippines.
Both leaders held a Japan-Philippines Summit Meeting in time for the visit of the Japanese Prime Minister in Manila on April 29, 2025.
In a statement, the Japanese embassy identified the areas for collaboration as agreed by both ministers during the meeting.
In resources and energy, the Japanese embassy stated that the two leaders affirmed the importance of public-private collaboration to expand LNG facilities in the Philippines.
This supports the two leaders’ commitment to advance cooperation through the “Asia Zero Emissions Community (AZEC)” and collaborate on establishing a resilient energy supply chain.
On the expansion of LNG facilities in the Philippines, the two leaders recognized that a stable business environment is crucial for promoting business. This includes, mineral resource projects, such as nickel.
In the area of agriculture, both Marcos and Ishiba said they will work closely together in agricultural products.
Lastly, they agree to cooperate with the public and private sectors on infrastructure development in the Philippines.
