BanKo partners with ECPay to boost financial access for micro-entrepreneurs

BPI Direct BanKo, Inc., A Savings Bank (BanKo) wholly-owned microfinance arm of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), has entered into a strategic partnership with Electronic Commerce Payments Inc. (ECPay), a leading electronic payment service provider, to make financial services more accessible to Filipinos, particularly micro-entrepreneurs and underserved communities.

This collaboration strengthens BanKo’s efforts to promote financial inclusion by tapping into ECPay’s robust payment network. With over 300,000 over-the-counter partner locations across the country—including pawnshops, convenience stores, malls, sari-sari stores, supermarkets, and remittance centers—BanKo clients can now conveniently perform loan payments at locations closer to where they live and work.

“Our partnership with ECPay allows us to bring essential financial services even closer to everyday Filipinos—especially the self-employed micro-entrepreneurs (SEMEs). With ECPay’s wide network, it’s now even more convenient for our clients to settle their loans on time. By making payments easier and more accessible, we’re helping them stay on track financially,” said Rod Mabiasen Jr., BanKo President.

BanKo clients can access ECPay services through 1,314 ECPay kiosks nationwide, as well as over 10,000 other non-ECPay self-service kiosks. This expands the available touchpoints for secure and seamless transactions with more than 100 digital collection partners, reaching millions of users.

“We are proud to partner with BanKo in advancing financial inclusion across the country. By connecting BanKo’s services to our extensive payment network, we are helping to bridge the gap between traditional banking and underserved communities. This collaboration is a step forward in making financial services more accessible, convenient, and impactful for millions of Filipinos,” said Ma. Patricia de la Fuente-Pascual, ECPay President and CEO.

Through this partnership, BanKo and ECPay reaffirm their shared commitment to advancing financial empowerment and fostering inclusive economic growth by providing practical and convenient banking solutions for all.
