Chelsea Logistics, through its subsidiary Starlite Ferries, Inc., announced the upcoming launch of its latest vessel, the M/V Starlite Resilience. The new passenger and roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) ferry will enter service in November 2025, a move that aligns with the company’s commitment to modernizing the domestic shipping industry.
The M/V Starlite Resilience, a brand-new, Japanese-built vessel measuring 67.60 meters, is the latest addition to Starlite Ferries’ fleet of 20 RoPax and cargo vessels. It has been awarded Pioneering Status by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) for its innovative route, which includes stops in Roxas (Mindoro), Caticlan, Odiongan, Batangas, Romblon, Magdiwang, and Culasi. This new route is expected to boost the economy of Aklan and the surrounding provinces along the Western Nautical Highway.
Advancing Safety and Efficiency
Chelsea Logistics President & CEO Chryss Alfonsus V. Damuy emphasized the vessel’s role in setting new industry standards. “The deployment of the M/V Starlite Resilience will set the standard for other shipping operators with pioneering status in the area,” said Damuy. He noted that MARINA’s guidelines now require operators to deploy new ships when replacing existing vessels, a policy that will lead to enhanced safety, comfort, and service quality for passengers and shippers.
The M/V Starlite Resilience is an internationally-classified vessel certified by Nippon Kaiji (NK) and features an airtight car and cargo deck designed to protect vehicles and goods from water splashes and sea breeze.
Commitment to Operational Excellence
Starlite Ferries General Manager Shane Anthony G. Arante highlighted the company’s focus on operational efficiency and environmental responsibility. “The launch of M/V Starlite Resilience reflects our commitment to delivering not only modernized services but also operational excellence across our routes,” said Arante. “By investing in more fuel-efficient vessels and streamlining turnaround times, we aim to enhance overall reliability and reduce environmental impact.”
The launch of this new vessel is part of the Chelsea Group’s broader support for the MARINA Maritime Industry Development Plan, which prioritizes shipping modernization. Through its subsidiaries—Starlite Ferries, Trans-Asia Shipping Lines, and Supercat Fast Ferry Corporation—the group continues to invest in a more modern, safe, and efficient maritime transport system for the Philippines.
