The Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) today reaffirmed its strong commitment to the development of a state-of-the-art, mixed-use transport hub at the Senate–DepEd (SEED) Station in Taguig City.
The SEED Project will serve as a vital interchange seamlessly connecting two major railway networks: the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) and the North–South Commuter Railway (NSCR). By linking these flagship lines, the hub aims to dramatically improve urban mobility, reduce transit times, and foster inclusive, long-term economic growth across Metro Manila and surrounding regions.
The announcement was made during the ceremonial handover of the SEED Project Feasibility Study held earlier today.
Speaking at the event, DEPDev Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan highlighted the strategic role of transit-oriented development in modern urban planning. “Well-planned, transit-oriented communities are essential to achieving inclusive and sustainable development,” Secretary Balisacan stated. “By integrating multimodal transportation with commercial and residential spaces, the SEED Project will not only streamline travel for thousands of daily commuters but also catalyze vibrant economic activity in Taguig and nearby corridors.”
The SEED Project stands as a flagship contribution from the United Kingdom to the Luzon Economic Corridor—a strategic trilateral initiative designed to accelerate high-impact investments in infrastructure, logistics, and inter-regional connectivity across Luzon.
Through integrated planning and international partnership, DEPDev and its development partners aim to establish the Senate–DepEd station as a benchmark for modern, sustainable transit hubs in the Philippines.
