Renewable power pioneer Alternergy Holdings Corporation (Alternergy) today announced it is acquiring the Tayabas North and Tayabas South wind energy projects from CleanTech Global Renewables Inc. (CleanTech), further expanding its renewable energy footprint in Quezon Province.
The acquisition was made through Alternergy’s special purpose company, Calavite Passage Wind Power Corporation, and includes the project assets, permits, and related contracts for both projects. The Tayabas North Wind Energy Project, with an estimated capacity of at least 96MW, was recently included in the Department of Energy’s Preliminary List of Accepted Bids under the 4th Green Energy Auction.
“We are excited to develop our second wind project in Quezon Province after our 64MW Alabat Wind Project is completed in early 2026,” said Gerry P. Magbanua, president of Alternergy. “The Quezon Provincial government led by Governor Dra. Helen Tan has been proactive in attracting renewable investments in her province,” he added.
The acquisition of the Tayabas wind projects will form a key part of Alternergy’s next project pipeline, adding to its goal of expanding beyond its first 500MW target.
“We look forward to co-developing these wind projects with Alternergy, the pioneer in wind energy in the country,” said Salvador Antonio Castro Jr., CEO of CleanTech. CleanTech will retain an equity stake in both wind projects and holds an option to co-invest further in the projects.
Mabuhay Capital acted as the Financial Advisor for the transaction. The transfer of assets remains subject to regulatory approval by the Department of Energy.
