The Cebu International Port (CIP) celebrated a major milestone in maritime tourism today with the successful docking of the international cruise ship MV Odyssey.
Cebu Port Authority (CPA) officials, led by General Manager Francisco C. Comendador III (as indicated in CPA public records), together with Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco and Cebu 5th District Congressman Vincent Franco “Duke” D. Frasco, personally welcomed the vessel and its passengers, highlighting the collaborative efforts to elevate Cebu as a premier global cruise destination.
CPA General Manager Comendador expressed his enthusiasm for the port call. “The successful docking of the MV Odyssey is a strong affirmation of Cebu’s appeal to international travelers and a testament to the Cebu International Port’s growing capability and readiness to accommodate large, modern cruise liners,” GM Comendador stated.
He further emphasized the CPA’s commitment to continuous development. “The Cebu Port Authority is dedicated to promoting continued improvements in our port facilities, streamlining passenger handling procedures, and strengthening security measures. Our goal is to firmly position Cebu as one of the country’s key gateways for maritime tourism, contributing significantly to local economic growth and the national tourism agenda.”
The arrival of the MV Odyssey underscores the successful execution of the national government’s strategy to promote the Philippines as a top cruise tourism destination. The event marks a significant step forward in making Cebu a consistent port of call for international cruise lines, opening new opportunities for the province’s tourism sector.
