FAST Logistics and Ajinomoto Philippines launch country’s first fully electric heavy-duty truck

In a landmark move for sustainable transport, the FAST Logistics Group and Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation (APC) have launched the Philippines’ first fully electric Prime Mover with a 40-foot trailer wing van, designed for heavy-duty, large-scale transport logistics.

The milestone vehicle, a first of its kind in the country, was inaugurated alongside a new, high-capacity EV charging station at Ajinomoto’s solar-powered warehouse in Bulacan. A secondary charger at FAST’s Laguna hub is on standby to ensure continuous operational readiness for the vehicle.

Built to handle the heavy demands of the supply chain, the new electric truck can carry loads of up to 25 tons and is powered by a 423 kWh battery. Utilizing the high-capacity charging infrastructure, the battery can achieve a full charge in just 1 hour and 30 minutes, giving the vehicle a potential range of up to 350 kilometers.

This initiative marks a major step toward advancing sustainable operations in the country’s Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. The integration of the electric Prime Mover directly supports Ajinomoto Philippines’ corporate goal of cutting its environmental impact by 50% by 2030. By making approximately 20 trips each month, the electric vehicle is projected to avoid the release of roughly 130 metric tons of carbon emissions annually.

“We thank FAST Logistics for their partnership, which enables us to distribute our products with essentially zero emissions,” said Ernie Carlos, APC Chief Sustainability Officer. “Together, we are glad to set a new benchmark for green transport in the food industry.”

FAST hopes this partnership inspires other major players to adopt greener solutions. “As major players in the business industry, FMCG companies possess the scale, resources, and flexibility to lead this transformation toward greener and more sustainable logistics solutions,” stated Gladys Ceniza, FAST’s VP for Strategic Growth Initiatives. “Their initiatives will accelerate the collective shift toward a low-carbon future.”

The launch ceremony was led by FAST’s VP for Strategic Growth Initiatives Gladys Ceniza, Business Unit Head for Inland Transport Olivier Encabo, and Head of Solutions Ely Baleta, alongside APC Senior Vice President Makoto Tanabe and APC Chief Sustainability Officer Ernie Carlos.

As the Philippines’ leading end-to-end logistics provider, this electric vehicle initiative is integral to FAST’s recently launched ESG Strategy and Net Zero by 2050 commitment, reinforcing its pioneering efforts across warehousing, trucking, and supply chain solutions nationwide.
