Government agencies swiftly deliver aid to Typhoon Tino victims following presidential directives

Following the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., various government agencies have mobilized rapidly to provide essential relief and support to communities severely affected by Typhoon Tino.

Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that all concerned agencies are actively on the ground, delivering critical aid.

“The entire administration under President Marcos Jr. responded quickly to ensure the safety and security of residents impacted by Typhoon Tino,” Castro said during a Palace press briefing on Wednesday.

The Department of Health (DOH) immediately distributed vital supplies, including medicines, clean drinking water, hygiene kits, and water containers, to the hardest-hit provinces of Cebu, Aklan, and Eastern Visayas.

The DOH continues to monitor for potential health threats and is ready to address the medical needs of residents across all affected regions.

The agency is also monitoring potential lahar threats from Mount Kanlaon due to the continuous rainfall brought by the typhoon.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has delivered substantial relief, including family food packs and ready-to-eat food items.

A total of 121,988 family food packs and 1,628 ready-to-eat food items have been delivered to residents in CALABARZON, Bicol, Western Visayas, Negros Island, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga.

The DSWD also extended financial aid to families who lost loved ones in the National Capital Region and Zamboanga.

The agency provided hot meals and relief supplies to stranded passengers, drivers, and operators at ports and terminals in affected areas.

Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Aguda reported his office is working closely with major telecommunications companies—Dito, Globe, and Smart—to accelerate the restoration of communication services in typhoon-affected areas.

“All of them are striving to reach 100 percent [restoration] as fast as possible,” Aguda said, noting that cooperation between the government and telcos is expected to improve network restoration significantly within the day.

Undersecretary Castro emphasized that Cabinet members continue to closely monitor the situation and oversee the efficient delivery of government assistance across all affected regions.

“In times of disaster, the welfare of the people, anywhere in the country, is always President Marcos Jr.’s priority,” Castro stressed.
