The Department of Tourism (DOT) was informed today, November 29, 2025, that several domestic flights have been temporarily cancelled as of 8:00 AM PHT due to an urgent technical advisory issued by Airbus, requiring affected aircraft to undergo a mandatory software upgrade.
The safety and security of all passengers remain the highest priority of the Department and all concerned airline partners.
The cancellations are immediate and affect services operating with Airbus aircraft. Passengers are strongly advised to check the status of their flights before proceeding to the airport.
| Airline | Flight Number | Route | Status |
| Cebu Pacific | 5J 3093/3094 | Manila – Butuan – Manila | Cancelled |
| Cebu Pacific | 5J 785/786 | Manila – Butuan – Manila | Cancelled |
This list is non-exhaustive and only reflects initial reports. Further cancellations may be implemented by other airlines utilizing affected Airbus models.
The cancellations are a direct consequence of a technical advisory from Airbus requiring specific aircraft models to perform a critical software upgrade to ensure continued operational safety and compliance. This preemptive action is mandatory and affects the deployment of the aircraft until the upgrade is completed.
The Department of Tourism urges all affected passengers to refrain from proceeding to the airport unless they have received a confirmed rebooking or updated itinerary from their airline.
-
Monitor Official Channels: Passengers are advised to continuously monitor their respective airline’s official communication channels for the most current information regarding flight status, rebooking options, refund policies, and the expected resumption of services.

The DOT is in constant coordination with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the airlines to monitor the situation and ensure affected passengers are handled according to established policies and receive necessary assistance.
The Department of Tourism appreciates the public’s understanding and patience as the aviation sector prioritizes safety and compliance with global technical mandates.
