As global supply chains face increasing complexity, Maersk announces a strategic shift in logistics management for 2026. The industry is moving beyond simple container tracking toward Decision Intelligence—a predictive, AI-driven approach that transforms raw data into actionable business strategy.
Currently, the logistics visibility market is bifurcated. Tech startups offer sophisticated software but lack operational “boots-on-the-ground” experience, while traditional 3PL providers possess deep logistics expertise but are still refining their digital tools.
Maersk is bridging this divide by integrating hands-on logistics mastery with advanced digital workflows. Silvia La Face, Digital Customer Communication Manager at Maersk, notes that 2026 is the tipping point where AI-agents and automated workflow builders allow businesses to anticipate disruptions before they occur. “Visibility is no longer a luxury; it is the baseline,” says La Face. “The goal now is to provide a connected view that monitors everything from SKU-level location to internal container conditions like temperature, cost, and emissions.”
With visibility now considered “normalcy,” Maersk is elevating the standard to Decision Intelligence. This evolution uses Machine Learning (ML) to analyze the trade-offs between lead times, environmental impact, and financial risk.
Henrik Killander, Head of Product Development & Partnerships at Maersk, explains that true power lies in the ability to make informed trade-offs. “Visibility needs to go beyond tracking shipments and ETAs. It must cover the key aspects of decision-making—cost, emissions, and risk. When you combine visibility data with AI, you unlock actionable insights that drive growth.”
-
Predictive Analytics: Moving from “where is my cargo?” to “how can I avoid this upcoming disruption?”
-
Granular Transparency: Real-time monitoring of SKU-level data and environmental conditions (e.g., cold chain integrity).
-
Sustainability Integration: Immediate visibility into carbon emissions to meet ESG goals.
-
AI-Powered Action: Utilizing AI modules to suggest optimized routes and cost-saving measures dynamically.
By synthesizing visibility with AI and machine learning, Maersk is empowering businesses to transition from reactive troubleshooting to proactive, intelligent orchestration of their global footprints.
