Maritime community ignites success at PISA’s exclusive block screening of “Avatar: Fire & Ash”

The Philippine Inter-island Shipping Association (PISA) successfully hosted a premier block screening of the highly anticipated film, Avatar: Fire & Ash, on Sunday, December 21, 2025. Held across Cinemas 5, 6, and 7 at the SM Mall of Asia, the event brought together industry leaders, maritime professionals, and academic partners for an evening of camaraderie and cinema.

The screening served as a platform for PISA members and stakeholders to strengthen industry bonds outside the boardroom. The atmosphere was one of high energy, reflecting the strong sense of community within the Philippine maritime sector.

A highlight of the evening was the attendance of the Midway Colleges Group. Led by their President, Mr. Czar Manglicmot, a delegation of 16 participants traveled from Cabanatuan City specifically to support the PISA initiative, underscoring the deep connection between maritime education and industry advocacy.

The event’s success was made possible through the generous support of key figures and organizations within the shipping and logistics community. PISA extends its sincere gratitude to:

  • Ms. Sharon Ngo, VP-Business Unit Head of Sea Solutions, 2GO Group

  • Ms. Geraldine Santos, Commercial Head, Manila Multipurpose Terminal

  • Ms. Jenny Cuerdo, President, Metro Manila Shipbuilders and Ship Repairers Association

  • Ms. Trisha Andaya, Oromarine Shipping Corporation

  • Ms. Agnes, TDM Shipping, Inc.

  • Ms. Daisy Dayusan, Sycamore International Corp.

The event was spearheaded by PISA President Mr. Mark Parco and PISA Executive Director Atty. Pedro Aguilar, both of whom expressed their appreciation for the overwhelming turnout.

“This gathering is a testament to the unity of our maritime community,” said Mr. Mark Parco. “Beyond the screen, it is the shared support for PISA’s advocacies that makes these events truly meaningful.”

As 2025 comes to a close, PISA remains committed to fostering collaboration and excellence within the inter-island shipping industry. The association looks forward to a productive 2026 filled with more initiatives that champion the interests of the Philippine maritime sector.
