The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has officially authorized the implementation of the second and final tranche of the 2022 toll rate petition for the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX). These adjustments are designed to ensure the continued delivery of high-quality infrastructure and enhanced safety measures for the thousands of motorists who rely on the expressway daily.
The rate adjustment follows a structured periodic review, allowing NLEX Corporation to sustain its intensive operations, maintenance schedules, and various expansion projects aimed at easing traffic congestion.
The adjustment varies depending on the vehicle class and the specific segment of the expressway traveled. Below is the breakdown of the additional fees:
| Segment | Class 1 (Cars/SUVs) | Class 2 (Buses/Trucks) | Class 3 (Large Trucks) |
| Open System (Balintawak to Marilao) | +₱6.00 | +₱12.00 | +₱16.00 |
| Subic-Tipo | +₱3.00 | +₱6.00 | +₱7.00 |
| End-to-End (Manila to Sta. Ines) | +₱24.00 | +₱60.00 | +₱72.00 |
For the Closed System (North of Marilao to Sta. Ines), the additional rate per kilometer (VAT exclusive) is set at ₱0.26 for Class 1, ₱0.65 for Class 2, and ₱0.78 for Class 3.
NLEX Corporation remains dedicated to providing a “pleasant, safe, and comfortable” travel experience. The revenue generated from these adjustments will be directly channeled into:
-
Routine Maintenance: Keeping the pavement and facilities in top condition.
-
System Upgrades: Enhancing toll collection and traffic management technologies.
-
Expansion Projects: Increasing road capacity to accommodate growing vehicle volume. “These adjustments enable us to meet the required standards for expressway operations while pursuing the improvements needed to serve our motorists better,” the TRB noted in its decision.
