President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced a substantial rollback in domestic fuel prices effective next week, headlined by a significant PhP 24.94 per liter reduction in diesel. The move is part of a broader government effort to provide immediate economic relief to the Filipino people.
Following a series of consultations and market monitoring, the President confirmed the following estimated price adjustments:
-
Diesel: Decrease of PhP 24.94 per liter
-
Gasoline: Decrease of PhP 3.41 per liter
-
Kerosene: Decrease of PhP 2.00 per liter
“We understand the situation of every Filipino during these times. We will not stop, we will not back down, and we will not allow this relief to fail in reaching our citizens,” President Marcos said in a video message. “There is relief on the way.”
The Chief Executive issued a stern warning to oil companies, demanding that these price cuts be implemented fully, accurately, and without delay.
“My call to our oil companies is clear: implement the rollback in full and on time. Give to the people what rightfully belongs to them,” the President noted.
The public is encouraged to report any violations or failure to adjust prices to the Department of Energy (DOE). The President assured the nation that the government is prepared to take immediate legal or administrative action against non-compliant entities.
Beyond fuel prices, the Administration is reinforcing its support for the transport sector and general public through several key initiatives:
-
Fuel Discounts: The PhP 10 fuel discount for Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs), including jeepneys and buses, remains in effect.
-
Service Contracting: The service contracting program for PUV drivers continues to ensure steady income for transport workers.
-
LTO Moratorium: The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) have implemented a three-month extension for the validity of driver’s licenses, student permits, conductor’s licenses, and vehicle registrations expiring this month.
Registrations expiring in April will remain valid until July without surcharges or penalties.
The President emphasized that these measures are designed to save not just money, but time. By reducing the financial burden and administrative hurdles, the government aims to allow Filipinos to spend more time on work, school, and family rather than in queues.
“Every centavo reduced must be felt by every Filipino,” President Marcos concluded.
