The Maritime Industry Authority–Region 9 (MARINA-9) has temporarily relaxed vessel voyage schedules from April 16 to 30 in response to a significant increase in passenger traffic and cargo volume across the Zamboanga Peninsula.
Region 9 comprises the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay, along with the cities of Dapitan, Dipolog, Pagadian, Zamboanga City, and Isabela City. As of September 2025, Sulu has also been placed under the administrative jurisdiction of Region IX.

Under the directive, passenger and cargo vessels may depart once they reach their maximum authorized capacity. However, sailings may also proceed prior to full capacity, provided operators secure the necessary clearances from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA).
MARINA-9 further emphasized that all vessels must carry valid and updated documentation at all times, including Certificates of Public Convenience (CPC), Special Permits, and Provisional Authority (PA), among other required certifications.
To mitigate port congestion and minimize travel delays, shipping operators are likewise authorized to deploy additional vessels, subject to MARINA approval and compliance with documentary requirements.
The measure is intended to facilitate safer and more efficient maritime travel during the current peak season.
