DA-NDA highlights importance of milk at 2026 Dairy Fair

The Department of Agriculture, through the National Dairy Authority (DA-NDA), reaffirmed its commitment to promoting milk consumption and supporting the local dairy industry through the opening of the 2026 Dairy Fair at the Farmers Plaza Activity Center in Araneta City, Quezon City from June 5 to 7, 2026.

Now in its second year, the Dairy Fair serves as a platform to bring locally produced milk and dairy products closer to consumers while raising public awareness of the nutritional benefits of milk and the contributions of Filipino dairy farmers.

NDA Administrator Atty. Marcus Antonius T. Andaya, together with Quezon City Small Business and Cooperatives Development and Promotions Office (SBCDPO) Department Head Mona Celine Marie V. Yap, representing Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, and Farmers Plaza Property Manager Arlene Arada led the opening ceremony.

In his keynote message, Admin. Andaya emphasized the importance of increasing public appreciation for locally produced milk and dairy products while strengthening support for Filipino dairy farmers and cooperatives. He noted that initiatives such as the Dairy Fair help connect producers directly with consumers, create market opportunities for dairy enterprises, and promote milk as an essential component of a healthy diet.

”Ang pagdiriwang na ito ay mahalagang paraan upang mas mailapit natin sa publiko at sa ating kababayan na napakahalaga ng gatas,” Admin. Andaya said. He also urged the mall goers to visit and support the booths of participating exhibitors.

Around 20 exhibitors composed of dairy cooperatives, processors, and partner brands from across the country participated in the event, showcasing a wide range of locally produced milk and dairy products.

The 2026 Dairy Fair in partnership with the Quezon City Government, the Quezon City SBCDPO, and Araneta City is a part of the World Milk Day celebration, a global observance highlighting the importance of milk and dairy products in nutrition, food security, and sustainable livelihoods.

Carrying the theme, “Celebrating Women Farmers,” this year’s Dairy Fair recognizes the vital role of women in the dairy industry—from farm management and dairy production to cooperative leadership and nutrition advocacy. As one of the highlights of the opening program, the DA-NDA recognized two outstanding women in dairy for their contributions to the sector’s development.
