Pres. Marcos Jr. announces global diplomatic expansion with new missions in Kazakhstan, Ghana, and Miami

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced plans on Friday to significantly expand the Philippines’ global diplomatic footprint by opening new embassies and consulates in key strategic regions.

The expansion aims to protect overseas Filipinos and unlock fresh economic, political, and cultural partnerships.

Speaking at the traditional Vin d’Honneur reception at Malacañan Palace, President Marcos revealed that the Philippines will establish new embassies in Kazakhstan and Ghana later this year. Additionally, the government is working to open a new Consulate General in Miami, Florida, to better serve the Filipino diaspora across the southeastern United States and the Caribbean.

President Marcos emphasized that his recent engagements with world leaders have reinforced the necessity of deep international cooperation.

“These meetings provided an excellent opportunity to bolster our bilateral ties across many sectors, foster closer people-to-people relations, and develop closer cooperation on new and emerging issues of mutual concern, all in pursuit of shared peace, progress, and prosperity,” President Marcos said.

The Chief Executive noted that the new diplomatic missions will play a dual role. Beyond offering vital and accessible consular services to safeguard Filipinos living abroad, they will act as gateways for robust economic cooperation and stronger bilateral ties with host nations.

The Vin d’Honneur—a traditional official reception meaning “wine of honor”—was attended by key government officials and members of the diplomatic community, including Senate President Pro Tempore Sherwin Gatchalian, House Speaker Faustino Dy III, Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro, First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, and the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Apostolic Nuncio Most Reverend Charles Brown.
