The Board of Investments (BOI) marked its participation in the 2026 PhilMarine Expo today, kicking off Day 1 of the premier three-day maritime event.
Gathering global and local leaders in shipbuilding, ship repair, and maritime technology, this year’s expo serves as a critical platform for showcasing the latest advancements in the maritime ecosystem.
During the Shipbuilding and Ship Repair (SBSR) Technical Conference held on the opening day, Mr. Rommel Madronio of the BOI’s Manufacturing Industries Service delivered a compelling presentation on the Philippines’ accelerating momentum in the maritime sector.
He emphasized the country’s unique proposition as an investment destination, citing its strategic geographic position in global trade routes, a highly adaptable and world-class seafaring and engineering workforce, and robust government support.
Central to the BOI’s address was the government’s strategic transition toward smart and sustainable manufacturing. As international maritime standards shift heavily toward decarbonization and green technology, Mr. Madronio highlighted how the Philippines is positioning its SBSR sector to adopt eco-friendly innovations, modernization programs, and digitalized manufacturing processes.
“The maritime sector is evolving at a rapid pace, and the Philippines is not just keeping up—we are positioning ourselves to lead in the region,” said Mr. Madronio. “Through targeted fiscal incentives, infrastructure development, and a strong commitment to sustainability, we are ensuring that investments made today will thrive in the future-ready maritime landscape of tomorrow.”
As the country’s primary infrastructure and industrial growth driver, the BOI remains deeply committed to fostering a highly competitive environment for global shipbuilders, component manufacturers, and maritime service providers. The agency aims to integrate local supply chains with international standards, transforming the archipelago into a premier maritime hub in the Asia-Pacific.
The BOI invites expo attendees, project developers, and potential partners to visit the official BOI Booth at the PhilMarine Expo 2026. Investment specialists are on-site to provide comprehensive briefings on structural incentives under the Strategic Investment Priority Plan (SIPP), registration processes, and collaborative growth opportunities within the Philippine maritime sector.
