The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) underscored the critical role of modern energy infrastructure in driving national economic transformation during Innovation Day Philippines 2026.
Organized by Schneider Electric Philippines on June 24, 2026, the event gathered key leaders from government, technology, manufacturing, and the energy sector to advance digital solutions for sustainable and inclusive growth.
Representing the ERC, Executive Director Atty. Nancy Aurora Q. Fajardo delivered a keynote address emphasizing that industrial digitalization and economic progress depend entirely on the strength of the power systems supporting them.
“Innovation and economic transformation are only as strong as the energy systems that support them,” Atty. Fajardo stated. She noted that modern, resilient power infrastructure is vital to maintaining competitiveness and sustaining investments, particularly in the rapidly expanding Visayas and Mindanao regions.
During her presentation, Atty. Fajardo outlined the ERC’s proactive regulatory framework designed to accelerate the country’s energy transition. Key initiatives highlighted include:
-
Grid Reliability & Resiliency: Actively integrating battery energy storage systems (BESS) and accelerating grid modernization.
-
Transmission Development: Implementing an updated framework that allows third-party financing and construction of priority transmission projects to fast-track infrastructure development.
-
Future-Ready Frameworks: Modernizing the Philippine Grid Code to seamlessly accommodate emerging technologies and flexible, clean energy sources.
The ERC’s regulatory reforms aim to create a direct, positive impact on Filipino consumers by:
-
Improving the overall quality and reliability of electricity service.
-
Significantly reducing the frequency and risk of power interruptions.
-
Lowering long-term costs by facilitating the integration of affordable, renewable energy.
-
Ensuring stable and reasonable electricity rates through timely, structured infrastructure investments.
By participating in Innovation Day Philippines 2026, the ERC reaffirms its commitment to collaborating with industry innovators and stakeholders. The Commission remains dedicated to fostering a resilient, modern, and consumer-centric energy sector that powers sustainable economic progress for the Philippines.
