US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reaffirmed the United States’ unwavering commitment to its strategic partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) today during the ASEAN-U.S. Post-Ministerial Conference.
Speaking before regional foreign ministers, Secretary Rubio emphasized the vital importance of the U.S.-ASEAN relationship in advancing a shared vision for an Indo-Pacific region that is free, open, connected, prosperous, secure, and resilient.
“The United States is deeply committed to working alongside ASEAN to ensure the health, safety, and economic security of our combined one billion citizens,” said Secretary Rubio. “Our partnership is built on decades of mutual trust and respect, and we continue to prioritize joint initiatives that drive peace, regional stability, and sustainable economic growth across Southeast Asia.”
During the conference, delegation leaders discussed key priorities to deepen cooperation under the U.S.-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including:
