Following the successful completion of the government’s nationwide Patient Transport Vehicle (PTV) program, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced a new major initiative to distribute fire trucks to local government units (LGUs) across the country.
Speaking during the PTV distribution ceremony in San Fernando, Pampanga, President Marcos confirmed that funding for the fire truck distribution program is already secured and procurement is officially underway.
“Inantay lang natin ang pagdating, nabili na ito, na order na itong mga firetruck na ito, inantay na lang natin ang pagdating nila bago natin ididistribute (We are just waiting for their arrival. These fire trucks have already been bought and ordered; we are just waiting for them to arrive before we distribute them),” President Marcos stated.
To be implemented through the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the program will follow the same distribution model utilized in the PTV rollout. The initiative aims to address critical gaps in local emergency infrastructure, as many municipalities currently lack fire trucks or rely on outdated, unreliable equipment.
“And gagawin natin yung fire truck together with, ipaparehas natin dito sa programa dito sa patient transport vehicle. So, we have completed the patient transport vehicle, we are beginning now on the fire trucks (And we will do the fire trucks together with, we will align it with the patient transport vehicle program. So, we have completed the patient transport vehicle, and we are beginning now on the fire trucks),” the President added.
The Chief Executive emphasized that the national government will carefully evaluate and determine the allocation of fire trucks across provinces, cities, and municipalities to guarantee that every LGU receives the necessary equipment. This program forms part of the administration’s broader commitment to improving public services and strengthening disaster response capabilities nationwide.
