GDP grows by 2.3% in the 2nd QR of 2026

The Philippine Gross Domestic Product posted a year-on-year growth of 2.3 percent in the second quarter of 2026.

 

The main contributors to the second quarter 2026 year-on-year growth were Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, 4.6 percent; Education, 12.7 percent; and Manufacturing, 2.6 percent.

 

Among the major economic sectors, Agriculture, forestry, and fishing; and Services posted year-on-year growths in the second quarter of 2026 with 2.7 percent and 4.5 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, Industry declined year-on-year by 2.4 percent in the same period.

 

 

The main contributors to the second quarter 2026 year-on-year growth were Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, 4.6 percent; Education, 12.7 percent; and Manufacturing, 2.6 percent. Among the major economic sectors, Agriculture, forestry, and fishing; and Services posted year-on-year growths in the second quarter of 2026 with 2.7 percent and 4.5 percent, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, Industry declined year-on-year by 2.4 percent in the same period. On the demand side, Household final consumption expenditure grew year-on-year by 2.8 percent in the second quarter of 2026. Similarly, Government final consumption expenditure; Exports of goods and services; and Imports of goods and services posted growths of 8.3 percent, 12.2 percent, and 5.5 percent, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, Gross capital formation posted a decline of 9.2 percent in the same period. The Gross National Income grew year-on-year by 2.2 percent in the second quarter of 2026. Likewise, Net Primary Income from the Rest of the World posted a year-on-year growth of 1.0 percent during the period.
