PCCI expresses confidence in Nepomuceno’s leadership in advancing trade reforms

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) has expressed confidence in the leadership of Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, citing the reforms implemented under his administration that have contributed to a more transparent, predictable, and rules-based trading environment.

In its recent statement supporting the proposed Joint Administrative Order (JAO) on international shipping and logistics regulation, PCCI underscored the BOC’s capacity to lead the implementation of the measure in coordination with other government agencies.

PCCI President Perry A. Ferrer emphasized the Chamber’s confidence in the Bureau’s leadership under Commissioner Nepomuceno, stating: “Commissioner Nepomuceno’s reforms have helped foster a more transparent, predictable, and rules-based trading environment. We believe the Bureau of Customs is well-positioned to lead the implementation of this important reform, working closely with the other partner agencies.”

The statement reflects the business community’s recognition of the Bureau’s ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency, improve regulatory predictability, and advance reforms that support trade facilitation and economic competitiveness.

Responding to PCCI’s statement, Commissioner Nepomuceno expressed his appreciation for the organization’s trust and support.

PCCI’s support comes as the government moves to finalize the proposed JAO, which seeks to address long-standing concerns regarding logistics costs, shipping charges, port efficiency, and transparency across the supply chain.

The Chamber views the measure as a significant step toward improving the business environment and enhancing the competitiveness of Philippine enterprises.

By expressing confidence in the Bureau of Customs’ ability to lead the implementation of the reform, PCCI highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration among government agencies and the private sector in pursuing meaningful improvements to the country’s trade and logistics ecosystem.
