National Security Adviser Eduardo S.L. Oban Jr. concluded a series of high-level engagements in Hanoi, reaffirming the Philippines’ commitment to deepen security and law enforcement cooperation with Viet Nam as both nations commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
During the visit, Secretary Oban met with Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm and held bilateral talks with Minister of Public Security General Lương Tam Quang. Both sides agreed to elevate collaboration in security, strategic dialogue, and law enforcement under the framework of the Philippines–Viet Nam Enhanced Strategic Partnership.

Regional Stability and ASEAN Centrality: Both sides underscored their shared commitment to maintaining peace in the South China Sea, resolving disputes peacefully under international law—particularly the 1982 UNCLOS—and reinforcing ASEAN centrality. As ASEAN Chair in 2026, the Philippines welcomed Viet Nam’s continued support for the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. “The National Security Council remains committed to advancing the Philippines’ Enhanced Strategic Partnership with Viet Nam through sustained dialogue and practical cooperation that safeguard national security, promote regional stability, and serve the shared interests of the Filipino and Vietnamese peoples,” said Secretary Eduardo S.L.
