Bahrain to host inaugural World Travel Awards grand final ceremony

The World Travel Awards (WTA) is set to stage its first-ever ceremony in Bahrain, marking an exciting milestone in the Kingdom’s ascent as a global tourism and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) destination. The prestigious WTA Grand Final Gala Ceremony will be held at Exhibition World Bahrain, a landmark venue, on 9 December 2025. This highly anticipated event will gather the world’s top leaders in travel and tourism to honor the industry’s finest achievements.

The debut of the WTA in Bahrain reflects the Kingdom’s growing status as a tourism hub, with the sector projected to contribute an impressive 11.4% to Bahrain’s GDP by 2026. Strategically situated at the crossroads of East and West, Bahrain is an archipelago of 33 islands in the Arabian Gulf with a rich 4,000-year history. Renowned as a major trading hub and once a center for the pearl-diving industry, Bahrain continues to draw visitors with its unique blend of heritage and modern luxury.

Manama, the vibrant capital of Bahrain, has emerged as a global destination for both business and leisure travelers. The city offers an authentic gateway to Bahraini culture, from exploring the historic Bahrain Fort to browsing artisan markets and enjoying Manama’s thriving arts scene. With its array of luxury venues and cultural heritage, Bahrain is increasingly favored as a destination for weddings and special events.

Exhibition World Bahrain serves as a cornerstone of the Kingdom’s economic growth strategy, playing a pivotal role in establishing Bahrain as a leading MICE destination. Hosting the WTA Grand Final Gala Ceremony solidifies its position as a key venue for prestigious global events.

The WTA Grand Final Gala Ceremony will be the culmination of the WTA Grand Tour 2025, an international search for the world’s best travel organizations. Regional ceremonies will precede the Grand Final in locations such as Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; Cancún, Mexico; Hong Kong; and Dubai, UAE.

Graham Cooke, Founder of World Travel Awards, expressed his excitement about bringing the event to Bahrain: “I am honored that World Travel Awards is heading to Bahrain for the first time, reflecting the Kingdom’s incredible tourism potential. Bahrain is a fascinating emerging destination, and I look forward to welcoming travel industry leaders from across the globe to experience its many charms.”

Sarah Ahmed Buhiji, CEO of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, shared her enthusiasm: “This is a significant achievement for Exhibition World Bahrain and highlights our dedication to promoting the Kingdom as a key destination for MICE events in the Middle East. This prestigious event will offer invaluable opportunities for networking and collaboration, further establishing Bahrain’s position in the MICE sector and showcasing our commitment to exceptional hospitality and cultural heritage.”

With its blend of innovation and tradition, Bahrain is poised to shine on the world stage as the WTA Grand Final Gala Ceremony approaches. The event promises to celebrate the best in travel and showcase Bahrain’s thriving potential as a premier tourism destination.
