LRTA earns Climate Change Commission Certification for sustainable transit initiatives

The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has been awarded the Climate Change Expenditure Tagging (CCET) Quality Assurance and Review (QAR) Certification by the Climate Change Commission (CCC), affirming that its climate-related programs and projects for fiscal year 2026 meet national standards for sustainability and environmental responsibility.

The certification follows a comprehensive review by the CCC, which endorsed LRTA’s initiatives as aligned with the country’s climate priorities. This recognition reflects LRTA’s ongoing commitment to integrating climate resilience and sustainable practices into its transit operations.

“This certification is a significant milestone for LRTA,” said Administrator Hernando Cabrera. “It highlights our dedication to addressing climate change while continuing to meet the growing transportation needs of the public in an environmentally sustainable way.”

The QAR Certification also reinforces LRTA’s alignment with the Philippine National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and the country’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement. Through these efforts, LRTA is helping to create a greener, more efficient transit system, enhancing the commuting experience while contributing to national climate goals.
