The Department of Transportation (DOTr), through the Land Transportation Office (LTO), announced the permanent revocation of the driver’s license of the truck driver involved in a fatal road crash along Batasan-San Mateo Road in Quezon City last week. This decisive action underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to road safety and accountability.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon stated that this swift resolution directly aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to prioritize and uphold road safety for all motorists and passengers across the nation.
“The government is serious about enforcing road safety because people’s lives depend on it,” Secretary Dizon emphasized. “There is no room on the road for irresponsible drivers, and we will ensure that they are no longer able to drive.”
The LTO resolution confirmed that the truck driver’s license was revoked after he tested positive for illegal drugs. This finding is in direct violation of both the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act and the Land Transportation and Traffic Code.
In addition to the permanent revocation of his license, the driver has also been perpetually disqualified from obtaining any type of driver’s license in the future, sending a strong message that such reckless behavior will not be tolerated on Philippine roads.
The DOTr and LTO remain steadfast in their mission to ensure the safety and security of the commuting public through stringent enforcement of traffic laws and swift action against violators.
