Travelers to and from the province of Ilocos Norte can now experience enhanced comfort and modern facilities as the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte officially opened a significant portion of the Laoag International Airport’s Passenger Terminal Building (PTB).
The partial opening marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to modernize the country’s regional airports, a key directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“President Bongbong Marcos has ordered us to modernize all airports in the country to ensure connectivity across the Philippines and provide our passengers with comfortable travel,” stated Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon.
The improvement and expansion of the Laoag International Airport’s PTB is currently 63% complete, running 4.5% ahead of schedule. Secretary Dizon announced that the full completion of the project is anticipated by October 2025, promising an even more comfortable and efficient travel experience for passengers.
This modernization initiative aims to provide both local and international travelers with a world-class gateway, boosting tourism and economic activity in the Ilocos Norte region and contributing to improved connectivity across the Philippine archipelago.
