The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) today announced the continued availability and enhanced accessibility of its 50% discount on Single Journey Tickets for students, effective immediately. Dedicated student lanes will remain open at all MRT-3 stations to facilitate a smoother and more convenient travel experience for the academic community.
This initiative is in direct response to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.’s directive to streamline the process of availing student discounts, ensuring that more students can benefit from reduced travel costs with greater ease.
To avail of the 50% discount, students are now only required to present a valid student ID or a registration form at the ticket counter. The previous requirement for filling out lengthy forms has been removed, replaced with a quick verification process that only requires the student’s name and signature.
The student discount is comprehensive, extending to all students, including those pursuing graduate studies. Furthermore, the discount is available seven days a week, from Monday to Sunday, encompassing all public holidays, to ensure maximum benefit for students regardless of their class schedules or travel needs.
“We are committed to supporting our students and making their daily commute more affordable and less burdensome,” stated MRT-3. “By simplifying the discount process and maintaining dedicated lanes, we aim to align with the President’s vision for more convenient and accessible public transportation for our youth.”
