President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. affirmed the strengthening trade and business relations between the Philippines and Cambodia, highlighting steady economic growth and expressing optimism for future collaboration.
Speaking at the CEO B2B Networking Roundtable in Phnom Penh during his State Visit, President Marcos emphasized the significant progress made by both nations.
“Since 2022, our bilateral trade has demonstrated steady and encouraging growth, reflecting the increasing vitality and complementarity of our respective economies,” President Marcos stated.
The President noted that total trade between the two countries reached $105.69 million in 2024, a clear sign of rising demand for goods and services and increasing trust between their business communities. He attributed this growth to the shared efforts of both governments in trade facilitation, policy alignment, and increased private sector engagement.
A Call to Action for Continued Partnership
While acknowledging the current momentum, President Marcos urged business leaders not to become complacent. He stressed the need to continue exploring new opportunities and strengthening partnerships to ensure economic ties expand even further.
“We cannot and should not rest on this momentum. There remains significant room to grow, untapped potential to explore, and opportunities that we must seize together,” the President said.
The roundtable, organized by the Department of Trade and Industry, the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Business Association in Cambodia, served as a vital platform for business communities to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and foster inclusive growth.
President Marcos also called for support as the Philippines prepares to assume the Chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2026, pledging to work closely with Cambodia and other partners to advance shared aspirations for a more prosperous and unified ASEAN.
