AirAsia opens Cebu hub to boost connectivity and regional growth in ASEAN

AirAsia announced the official launch of Cebu as its newest hub in the Philippines, a strategic move that reinforces the airline’s commitment to expanding its network and boosting connectivity across the ASEAN region. This development solidifies AirAsia’s position as the fastest-growing low-cost carrier in the Philippines.

The new hub in Cebu, one of the country’s leading tourism and business centers, will serve as a key gateway, improving access for both domestic and international travelers. For guests in Malaysia, this launch provides more convenient connections to the Visayas and Mindanao regions, with easy access to popular destinations like Bohol, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao.

Starting November 15, 2025, AirAsia Philippines (flight code Z2) will operate several new and exciting routes from the Cebu hub:

Cebu–Kuala Lumpur: 14x weekly

Cebu–Davao: 18x weekly

Cebu–Caticlan: 11x weekly

Cebu–Iloilo: 4x weekly

Cebu–Macao: 3x weekly

Amanda Woo, Group Chief Commercial Officer of AirAsia, expressed her enthusiasm for the new hub. “The reopening of the Cebu hub underscores the AirAsia Group’s strong commitment to the Philippines and our dedication to exploring new gateways that will create significant economic opportunities,” she said.

“This will allow travelers from the southern part of the country to directly access over 130 destinations across ASEAN, North Asia, and Europe via our main hub in Kuala Lumpur. We extend our gratitude to our partners at Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA), the Philippine Government, and all stakeholders for making this comeback a success.”

To celebrate the launch, AirAsia is offering promotional one-way fares from Cebu to various destinations.

Cebu–Kuala Lumpur: All-in one-way fares from only RM288*.

The launch of the Cebu hub is a significant step in AirAsia’s multi-hub strategy in the Philippines, aiming to maximize synergies with its broader network across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
