President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday led the “Handog ng Pangulo: Financial Assistance to Farm Laborers and Distribution of Titles” event, where he honored the hard work of Filipino farmers and strengthened their tenure security by awarding agricultural and residential land titles.
Joined by officials from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center, the President underscored the government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural community. “I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you—to our farmers and workers who continue to strive for a prosperous future,” President Marcos said. “For your daily hardship and toil in farming, working, and supporting your families, the government is here to support and assist you.”
The President and the DENR turned over agricultural and residential free patents to 455 farmer beneficiaries from various regions, including Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Metro Manila. Additionally, deeds of sale were distributed to 65 beneficiaries from four barangays in Taguig City.
“These titles are a recognition of your right to own your own land,” President Marcos stated, urging the beneficiaries to put their newly acquired land to productive use. “Make your land productive. Use it properly for every Filipino family, for our communities, and for the future of our beloved Philippines. The responsible use of land will lead to a prosperous life for all of us.”
The event also included the distribution of financial assistance, with the DSWD providing PhP10,000 each to 2,970 farmer beneficiaries, along with family food packs.
The “Handog Titulo Program” aims to grant land ownership rights to qualified beneficiaries, ensuring legal ownership for those who have cultivated public lands for many years.
