FAST Logistics Group commits to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050

FAST Logistics Group, the Philippines’ premier provider of end-to-end logistics, has officially committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The company formalized this pledge by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) and joining its Net Zero Carbon Alliance (NZCA), the country’s largest multi-sectoral movement dedicated to a net-zero future.

The signing took place at the NZCA Conference at SMX Aura, where logistics leaders and sustainability advocates convened to discuss a transition to eco-friendly practices. By joining the alliance, FAST becomes the first end-to-end logistics provider in the Philippines to make such a commitment.

Manuel L. Onrejas Jr., FAST Logistics Group’s CEO for Logistics, highlighted the company’s motivation. “Our journey to net zero is driven by the belief that logistics move goods—and also drive positive change,” Onrejas said. “We want to help create a future that is better for our business, for our communities, and for the next generation of Filipinos.”

A Bold Decarbonization Roadmap

Under the agreement, FAST will take key steps recommended by the NZCA to meet its 2050 goal. These include:

Monitoring and reducing fuel consumption and waste across all company sites.

Adopting renewable energy in transport and warehouse operations.

Engaging with key suppliers to develop sustainable practices that support its net-zero target.

This commitment is a key part of the company’s publicly shared ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategy, which focuses on transitioning to a low-carbon economy. This strategy is also guided by a board-approved target of reducing direct emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) by 55% by 2030, using 2023 as the baseline year.

FAST’s long-standing dedication to sustainability has already earned industry recognition, including the Sustainability and Green Logistics Award at the 2024 SCMAP Supply Chain Philippines Excellence Awards.

Pioneering a Greener Logistics Industry

For years, FAST has invested in sustainable innovations to minimize its environmental impact. The company operates warehouses powered entirely by renewable energy, has installed solar-powered EV charging stations, and was the first to use a fully electric truck in the Philippine logistics industry.

“Every sustainable step we take today creates a cleaner, greener tomorrow,” Onrejas added. “With every sustainable solution, we move closer to smarter, more efficient logistics for the Philippines.”

This strategic commitment reflects FAST’s mission of providing “Logistics Para Sa Bayan”—serving both people and the planet—and supporting businesses of all sizes by integrating sustainability into its core operations.
