The President, joined by First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos and Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, engaged the Clooneys in a productive discussion about the Administration’s efforts to uphold fundamental civil liberties.
A significant part of the conversation was dedicated to technological advancements in the legal field. Ms. Clooney, an expert barrister specializing in international law and human rights, highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to broaden access to justice. President Marcos welcomed this perspective and underscored the immediate need for responsible regulation to ensure the ethical and secure use of AI technologies within the Philippines.
In closing remarks, President Marcos reaffirmed the Administration’s unwavering commitment to upholding press freedom and expressed his well wishes for the couple’s visit.
The Clooneys are in the Philippines to serve as headliners for the Social Good Summit 2025, hosted by an online news platform on November 16 at Lanson Place in Pasay City. They are expected to deliver speeches addressing global challenges affecting free speech and civil liberties.
