A total of 196 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Kuwait safely arrived in Manila on Thursday, April 30, aboard Gulf Air Flight GF154, which landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
Their repatriation was facilitated through the coordinated efforts of the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO), and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). These agencies continue to work closely together to ensure the safe, orderly, and efficient return of Filipino nationals amid the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
Before they departed from Kuwait, the OFWs were provided with essential assistance, including temporary shelter, food, transportation, and medical services to support their immediate needs.
Upon arrival in the country, the repatriates were welcomed by representatives from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), OWWA, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The agencies promptly extended further assistance, including financial aid, meals, temporary accommodation, and arrangements for onward travel to their home provinces through domestic flights and land transportation.
The continued provision of comprehensive support services reflects the government’s whole-of-nation approach to protecting the welfare of OFWs. This effort is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure timely, efficient, and compassionate assistance to Filipinos overseas, especially during times of crisis.
The government remains committed to safeguarding the well-being of all OFWs and ensuring that they receive the necessary support as they reintegrate with their families and communities.
