DMW-OWWA welcomes home 63 repatriated OFWs from Abu Dhabi, reintegration assistance underway

A total of 63 Filipinos, composed of 48 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), 13 dependents, one tourist, and one Golden Visa holder, safely returned to the Philippines from Abu Dhabi in the early hours of May 8, 2026, as part of the government’s continuing repatriation and reintegration efforts for Filipinos overseas.

Upon arrival at the airport, the returnees were warmly received by representatives from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) medical team. Government personnel immediately extended assistance to ensure the smooth transition of the repatriates back to their communities and families.

The returning Filipinos were provided with immediate aid, including financial assistance, temporary accommodation, medical support, and transportation assistance for their safe travel back to their respective provinces.

In line with the government’s comprehensive reintegration program, the repatriates will also have access to various services aimed at helping them rebuild their lives and regain economic stability. These include livelihood assistance, skills training, psychosocial support, and re-employment facilitation programs designed to help returning OFWs and their families start anew.

The ongoing whole-of-government response forms part of the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure not only the safe and orderly return of overseas Filipinos but also the sustained support necessary for their long-term recovery and reintegration into Philippine society.

Government agencies reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the welfare of overseas Filipinos and providing responsive assistance during times of crisis and displacement abroad.
