Globe was recognized by the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Partners’ Appreciation Program on May 8, 2026 in Mandaluyong City, led by Education Secretary Sonny Angara for its sustained support to the education sector. The recognition affirms Globe’s sustained contribution to expanding access to education, strengthening digital capability, and supporting long-term reforms across the learning system.
In his message during the event, Secretary Angara highlighted the vital role of education partners in improving schools and shaping a better future for Filipino learners. He also recognized DepEd’s long-standing partners from government, international organizations, research institutions, and the private sector for supporting education reforms nationwide.
For over a decade, Globe has partnered with DepEd to modernize education through connectivity, digital tools, and digital literacy programs. Its Global Filipino Schools (GFS) program introduced ICT-enabled learning hubs in public schools and was adopted by DepEd in 2019 as a national model for 21st-century learning.
Launched in 2016, Globe’s Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) promotes digital citizenship, online safety, and data privacy awareness. Integrated into the DepEd K–12 curriculum in 2019, DTP has reached over 2 million students, trained more than 115,000 teachers, and covered over 4,100 schools nationwide as of 2025. Globe also expanded its digital inclusion efforts through Senior Digizen in 2024, equipping older Filipinos with essential digital skills and online safety knowledge.
Currently, Globe is bringing digital learning closer to Filipino students by supporting the Ayala Foundation’s CENTEX Digital Education Program. This initiative combines specialized teacher training with digital learning to support differentiated instruction, ensuring teaching based on students’ current learning level and needs. In a twelve-week pilot, students in the program doubled their average math scores from 27% to 56%, and outperformed comparison schools by 14 percentage points.
To reach even more public schools, Globe has also partnered with Khan Academy Philippines, which is accessible through the Essentials section of the GlobeOne App. Working hand-in-hand with the Department of Education (DepEd), these programs are delivering high-quality digital lessons to partner communities.
Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, said the recognition reflects years of collaboration and shared purpose. “This acknowledgment from DepEd highlights the progress we have made with our partners in improving access to learning. From enabling connectivity to building digital skills, our focus remains on supporting teachers and students across the country. This milestone strengthens our commitment to continue expanding opportunities for every Filipino learner.”
The distinction underscores Globe’s role as a long-term partner in education, contributing to reforms that continue to shape a more connected and future-ready generation.
