The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) introduced the Tatak Pinoy Seal for high-quality, innovative, and globally competitive Filipino-made products and services during the Tatak Pinoy Expo 2026, which featured 80 iconic companies that have demonstrated competitiveness in global trade.
DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque highlighted industries that have brought pride to the Philippines, saying the Tatak Pinoy Strategy adopts a targeted approach focused on nine priority sectors.
These sectors include IT-BPM; food agri-processing; cement, steel, and construction materials; semiconductors, electronics, and electrical devices; automotive, electric vehicles, and components; pharmaceutical diagnostics and health products; defense manufacturing; chemicals; and industrial inputs.
Among the leading Tatak Pinoy companies are the iconic fast-food brand Jollibee and the country’s largest steelmaker, SteelAsia Manufacturing Corp.
“Behind every single booth representing these nine sectors today is a story of local craftsmanship meeting advanced technology. We are winning because our industries are world class, but also because we are advancing a pro-foreign trade policy,” Secretary Roque said.
The Tatak Pinoy (Proudly Filipino) Act, or Republic Act No. 11981, is the country’s first institutionalized national industrial policy aimed at moving Philippine industries up the value chain, generating quality jobs, and enhancing global competitiveness.
Tatak Pinoy Seal
At the center of the Tatak Pinoy Strategy is the unveiling of the Tatak Pinoy Seal, which symbolizes high-quality, innovative, and globally competitive Filipino products.
“By giving products bearing this seal a direct aggressive preference in government procurement where we are ensuring that public funds are used strategically to buy Filipino, support Filipino, and grow Filipino,” said Secretary Roque.
The Tatak Pinoy Seal serves as the government’s certification mechanism for identifying high-quality, innovative, and globally competitive Filipino-made products and services.
Roque explained that the seal aims to build national pride, strengthen confidence in Filipino products, and foster collaboration that would help enterprises expand beyond the country’s borders.
It remains unclear, however, how enterprises can obtain the Tatak Pinoy Seal, including its guidelines and mechanics. The DTI chief only said that the department already knows the criteria and encouraged enterprises to visit DTI offices.
Ambitions
To implement the Tatak Pinoy Strategy, a Tatak Pinoy Council chaired by the DTI Secretary was established. In October 2025, President Marcos Jr. approved Memorandum Circular No. 104, which outlines a multi-year strategy projected to generate PHP7.04 trillion in GDP impact, create 11.13 million jobs, and contribute PHP837.39 billion in government revenues by 2040.
The strategy also projects significant gains for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including PHP11.33 billion in GDP impact, 45,000 jobs, and PHP1.43 billion in government revenues through industry upgrading initiatives.
