The Bureau of Customs (BOC), led by Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, recently convened a strategic planning meeting with International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) to integrate critical customs operational requirements directly into the development of the upcoming South Luzon Container Terminal (SLCT) project.
The collaborative session focused on embedding the BOC’s essential processing, examination, monitoring, and enforcement needs into the terminal’s foundational design.
By initiating this proactive partnership, both entities are ensuring that vital customs infrastructure and coordination mechanisms are fully established and operational well ahead of the terminal’s official commercial opening.
“Building these enforcement and examination capabilities directly into the design phase allows us to secure our borders while facilitating seamless trade from day one,” said Commissioner Nepomuceno.
During the meeting, ICTSI presented updates on the SLCT’s construction progress, highlighting its future role in boosting regional port capacity and driving supply chain efficiency.
Both the BOC and ICTSI reaffirmed their long-term commitment to close coordination, ensuring the new facility will optimize customs workflows and serve as a premier trade gateway for Southern Luzon.
