MARINA vows Filipino seafarers not only meet global standards, but safe, supportive environment

Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Administrator Sonia B. Malaluan has assured that the government will continue working toward a maritime sector where every Filipino seafarer is equipped not only to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving industry but also to thrive in a safe, secure, and supportive environment.

Administrator Malaluan made the assurance as more than 3,000 Filipino seafarers and aspiring maritime professionals converged at the MARINA Job Fair today, June 25, at the Rizal Park Hotel in conjunction with the celebration of the Day of the Filipino Seafarer.

The initiative supports the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to promote employment generation, strengthen maritime workforce development, and uphold the welfare of Filipino seafarers, whose skills and dedication continue to contribute to global trade and national economic growth.

Organized by the MARINA in partnership with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), ALMA Maritime Group, and licensed manning agencies, the one-day job fair brought together 25 accredited manning agencies offering over 2,000 employment opportunities for both officers and ratings across various sectors of the global shipping industry.

Through initiatives such as the MARINA Job Fair, the government continues to create pathways for quality employment while ensuring that Filipino seafarers are equipped to meet the evolving needs of the international maritime industry.
