The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in partnership with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and Deloitte Philippines, launched the second leg of its “Mainstreaming Energy Efficiency in MSMEs” Investment Roadshow.
The initiative positions energy efficiency not merely as a regulatory requirement but as a critical driver of business growth, competitiveness, and long-term sustainability.
DTI Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona urged local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to adopt energy-saving strategies actively. Undersecretary Lantayona emphasized that these practices are vital tools for boosting market competitiveness, reducing operational costs, and creating a lasting, positive impact within local communities.
Aligning the initiative with the national “Bagong Pilipinas” vision, Undersecretary Lantayona underscored the government’s steadfast commitment to empowering the MSME sector.
“This gathering is a very clear reflection of what we can achieve when we come together in unity and purpose,” said Usec. Lantayona. “The energy efficiency for MSMEs project is a meaningful technical initiative that provides technical assistance and capacity building support to encourage sustainable energy practices through policy advisory, training programs, and investment promotions.”
The roadshow’s opening session featured real-world success stories from MSMEs that have successfully cut overhead costs and optimized operations through practical, accessible energy solutions. These case studies challenged attendees to view energy efficiency as a strategic investment in their future.
To bridge the gap between intent and action, the event provides MSMEs with direct access to:
-
Expert Insights: Guidance on navigating energy transitions.
-
Practical Showcases: Demonstrations of advanced, scalable energy technologies.
-
Resource Matching: Connecting business owners with accessible financing and practical guidance.
The DTI extended its institutional appreciation to the BIMP-EAGA-Korea Cooperation Fund (BKCF), the funding agency whose support has been instrumental in delivering these critical capacity-building and technical assistance programs to Filipino entrepreneurs.
