Despite the decline in its financial performance in the first half of the year, Globe Telecom Inc. expressed confidence that the encouraging growth in its core telecommunications business during the period will continue and drive an improvement in its performance for the remainder of 2026.
“We are very much optimistic about the balance of the year given the very good performance of the core telco business in the first half of 2026. We do believe we should be able to leverage all of the momentum that we delivered in the first half to be able to turn that into upside to the second half of 2026, which should help buoy the bottom line performance from full-year perspective,” Globe CFO Juan Carlo C. Puno said.
Globe reported that its net income declined by 11 percent in the first half of 2026 to PHP11 billion, from PHP12.4 billion a year earlier. However, core earnings rose 7 percent in the second quarter from the previous quarter.
This brought consolidated gross service revenues in the first half to PHP85.4 billion, 6 percent higher than the PHP80.2 billion recorded a year ago, boosting confidence in stronger results in the second half of 2026.
“Despite all of the macroeconomic headwinds we faced in the first half of 2026, you saw our core telco business perform quite well. We do believe we should be able to actually leverage this and to be able to carry this momentum in the second half of 2026, thereby being able to potentially impact positively the bottom line of full-year. Again, no guidance, but very optimistic about what we will be able to deliver in the second half of 2026,” he said.
Meanwhile, Globe reported that the enterprise sector in the Philippines, which had lagged the most in terms of digital adoption, is showing signs of improvement as more enterprises move beyond basic connectivity and begin investing in digital transformation to improve their operations and profitability.
Globe’s corporate data business, which includes both connectivity services and information and communications technology (ICT), grew 15 percent year-on-year and 15 percent quarter-on-quarter, as the Ayala-led telecommunications company continues to deliver reliable and relevant services to its large and medium-sized enterprise clients.
Demand remains strong for cloud cybersecurity, managed services, business applications, and, increasingly, data- and AI-enabled solutions. Globe also sees more companies looking for integrated technology partners.
