The Department of Tourism (DOT) officially welcomed the revival of AirMacau’s direct flight services between Macau (MFM) and Manila (MNL) on Thursday, marking a major milestone in the country’s ongoing efforts to restore robust air connectivity with key neighboring regions and the broader Greater China market.
The resumption of the route comes after an almost two-year hiatus. Its reinstatement offers a seamless, more convenient travel option for leisure tourists, business executives, and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) traveling between the Philippines and Macau.
“The return of AirMacau’s direct service is a testament to the growing demand for travel and the strengthening economic and tourism ties between our regions,” said the DOT in a statement. “Reestablishing this vital link not only opens doors for greater cultural and commercial exchange but also makes it significantly easier for our modern-day heroes, our OFWs, to return home to their families.”
The Macau flag carrier is scheduled to operate five flights per week on this route, with departures every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. To accommodate anticipated growth in traveler volume, AirMacau plans to expand the schedule into a daily service starting in September 2026.
The inaugural returning flight from Macau touched down at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 at approximately 1:45 p.m., carrying 118 passengers. Upon arrival, travelers were given a warm Filipino welcome organized by the DOT through its Routes Development Unit and the National Capital Region (NCR) office. The corresponding departing flight back to Macau successfully took off later that afternoon at around 3:10 p.m.
The DOT remains committed to working alongside international airline partners and aviation stakeholders to aggressively restore and expand direct air routes, positioning the Philippines as a highly accessible and premier destination in the Asia-Pacific region.
