Departing Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) using Clark International Airport will soon enjoy a seamless and comfortable pre-departure experience, following a new partnership between the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD) Corporation.
OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan and LIPAD President and Chief Executive Officer Noel F. Manankil formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the operation of a dedicated OFW Lounge at Terminal 2 of Clark International Airport.
Under the terms of the agreement, LIPAD will allocate space within the terminal and provide operational support, while OWWA will oversee the management and daily operations of the lounge to ensure smooth, safe, and continuous service.
“We know that many of our OFWs travel for several hours just to reach the airport,” said OWWA Administrator Caunan during the ceremony. “When they arrive in Clark, we want them to have a dedicated space to rest, enjoy a meal, and request assistance if needed. While this cannot fully ease the sacrifice of leaving their families, it serves as a tangible reminder that their government is here to support and care for them before they take flight.”
The initiative directly supports the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to establish dedicated OFW lounges across the country’s primary international hubs, providing modern facilities and accessible assistance to modern-day heroes as they head abroad.
Scheduled to officially open its doors on September 16, 2026, the Clark OFW Lounge marks the fourth facility of its kind managed by OWWA. It joins existing lounges located at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1 and 3, as well as Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA).
Once operational, the lounge will offer departing workers a comfortable and well-organized environment to relax, recharge, and access government support services. The project forms a key part of the ongoing expansion of the Alagang OWWA initiative, which aims to extend compassionate government service to OFWs throughout every stage of their journey—from departure to their safe return home.
