The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) warmly received the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, H.E. Kęstutis Budrys, alongside his delegation, during an official visit to the Magsaysay Training Center Facilities in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
The high-level engagement forms part of continuing bilateral efforts to deepen labor cooperation and open expanded avenues for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Europe. Discussions between Philippine and Lithuanian officials focused on expanding access to the Lithuanian job market, advancing the Joint Communiqué on Migrant Workers between the DMW and Lithuania’s Ministry of Social Security and Labor, and streamlining recruitment standards, worker qualifications, and employer requirements.
Following the bilateral meeting, Foreign Minister Budrys and his delegation toured the training facility. The group observed live technical training sessions, spoke directly with trainees, and reviewed specialized programs engineered to prepare Filipino workers for global industry standards.
DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac extended his gratitude to Foreign Minister Budrys for Lithuania’s continued confidence in the skill, reliability, and work ethic of the Filipino workforce.
“This visit reflects the growing friendship and cooperation between the Philippines and Lithuania. Today’s discussions will further strengthen our bilateral cooperation in labor, employment, and human capital development,” Secretary Cacdac said.
Joining Secretary Cacdac at the meeting were DMW key officials, including Undersecretary Felicitas Q. Bay, Assistant Secretaries Levinson C. Alcantara and Julyn S. Ambito-Fermin, and Director Paul E. Listones. Also in attendance were Magsaysay People Resources Corporation President and CEO Marlon R. Roño and TESDA Regional Office IV-A (CALABARZON) Regional Director Engr. Jovencio M. Ferrer, Jr.
