LTFRB resumes accreditation of MTPP, application for motorcycle taxi rider

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will start accepting a letter of intent for the accreditation of Motorcycle Taxi Platform Provider (MTPP) on August 5, 2026.

At the same time, LTFRB Chairman Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II said the acceptance of application for issuance of Provisional Authority to Operate as Motorcycle Taxi Rider will also resume on the same date.

The LTFRB earlier temporarily suspended the onboarding of new ride-hailing service units and riders amid confirmed reports of allowing more drivers and riders beyond the limit set by the agency.

The move was intended to cleanse the rank which the LTFRB said will benefit the entire ride-hailing service community.

Chairman Vigor, however, explained that the accreditation for MTPP and the issuance of the Provisional Authority for taxi riders will be based on the rider cap allocated by the Motorcycle Taxi Technical Working Group per MTPP.

He added that no new players will be accepted as the slots are limited to those that were already given go signal by the Technical Working Group.

“We have implemented measures not only to ensure that the process will be smooth and comfortable for the motorcycle taxi community but also to achieve our main goal of coming up with an orderly and systematic way of public transportation,” said Chairman Vigor.

This is in line with the instruction of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. to further improve, modernize and professionalize the public transportation in the country.

On the part of the LTFRB, Chairman Vigor said the goal is to ensure that the riding public will be assured of a reliable and comfortable transport system on a daily basis.

Aside from coming up with a systematic and modern public transport system, the LTFRB has been aggressively pursuing digitalization that will make all the transaction in the agency digital for the benefit of the PUV community.
