Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina A. Roque brought the agency’s flagship “Diskwento Caravan” to Las Piñas on Tuesday, June 17. The caravan offers a wide range of affordable school supplies and vital business development services.
Aside from offering discounted consumer goods, under the “Lab For All” project led by First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, the DTI booth also served as a platform for entrepreneurs. The agency provided on-site assistance for business registration, guidance on product development, and support for trade fair participation.
“Through this initiative, we are bringing vital services closer to the people. This is also in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure that Filipino families are given access to affordable school supplies among others and business opportunities,” said Secretary Roque.
The DTI’s Diskwento Caravan, a program regularly offering essential items, provided families attending the “Lab For All” event with access to essential items, such as school supplies, food products, and hygiene items. All products were below suggested retail rates, providing timely financial relief.
Additionally, the caravan supported micro, small, and medium enterprises by providing them direct market access as vendors, thereby stimulating grassroots economic activity.
The Las Piñas leg of the “Lab For All” highlighted the Marcos Jr. administration’s collaborative, whole-of-government approach to public service. The DTI’s economic empowerment programs complemented the health and social welfare services provided during the event, ensuring a holistic benefit for the community.
The DTI remains committed to fostering cross-sector collaboration, aligned with the “Bagong Pilipinas” vision for a more inclusive, empowered, and opportunity-rich society.
