DOTr vows to combat fake taxi rates and overcharging

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has condemned the proliferation of fake taxi rates and instances of overcharging, particularly those targeting passengers at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals. The DOTr emphasized that such illicit activities directly contradict President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure fair and affordable fares for all commuters.

“We will not let this go unnoticed,” declared Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon. “The government will catch those spreading fake taxi rates, including taxi operators and drivers who overcharge. Furthermore, if any DOTr employees or personnel from other government agencies are found to be involved in these schemes, they will be held accountable.”

The DOTr is actively informing the public about fraudulent taxi rates circulating online, which are being falsely attributed to taxi operators and drivers serving NAIA terminals. Passengers are urged to be vigilant and rely only on official and published fare matrices.

The Department reiterates its commitment to protecting the commuting public and upholding the integrity of the transportation sector. Comprehensive measures are being put in place to identify and apprehend individuals and groups responsible for disseminating misinformation and engaging in fare manipulation.
